The NS BASIC FTP Library March 8, 1998 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This directory contains the latest versions of NS BASIC products for licenced users of NS BASIC. If you do not currently have NS BASIC, there's not much point in downloading anything here, except for demonstration software. Files are available in Stuffit (.SIT) format, binhex encoded. You'll need an unstuffing utility from Aladdin to unstuff the file - get it at http://www.aladdinsys.com/products/products.html. Important! Stuffit Expander for Windows Users: Under Cross-platform Options, set both options to "Never". If these are not set correctly, packages will give the error message "does not appear to be a valid package". The following files are available: 1. Demonstration Software ---------------------- NS BASIC Movie Demonstration (MOVIEDEMO) Approx 119K Includes 3 packages you can download to view a couple of movies on your Newton: LettSpin: some spinning lettersm, and Plane, a shot of an airplane flying by. Demonstrates Multimedia abilities of NS BASIC. 2. NSB361U.SIT Application Software (Requires NS BASIC) Approx 305K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (last update: March 8, 1998) This is an update to the main NS BASIC application. It allows you to edit and run NS BASIC programs. It will run on any Newton that already has NS BASIC 3.6x running on it. It will not work on Rev 3.5 or earlier. It corrects bugs and adds new features. For complete details, see the Release Notes elsewhere on this site. NS BASIC is distributed subject to the terms of the Licence Agreement contained in the NS BASIC Handbook. Runtime 3.60 Tool: This allows low fat packages to be run on Newtons without needing NS BASIC itself to be present. It is freely distributable. It saves as an autopart in the Extensions folder of the Extras drawer. Fat packages created by NS BASIC do not need this module. Visual Designer 1.04d: The Visual Designer allows NS BASIC users to layout window objects interactively and include them automatically into their programs. For complete details, see the Release Notes elsewhere on this site. MakePackage 3.61 Tool: The MakePackage Tool takes the program you developed and turns it into a package in your extras drawer. It can create fat packages, which include the libraries in Runtime, or low fat packages which require the Runtime.pkg to be loaded as well. It saves as an autopart in the Extensions folder of the Extras drawer. BASIC Internet Tool 1.01 (BIT): The BASIC Internet Tool allows you to access internet services from NS BASIC.
