Anywhere, Anytime Programming

Toronto, January 28, 1999 -- NS BASIC Corporation today announced the immediate availability of NS Basic/CE 1.10 for the Jornada 820, its complete programming environment for Windows CE.

The Jornada 820, from Hewlett Packard, is the first Windows CE device to use the StrongArm 1100 chip. NS Basic/CE is one of the first applications to be ported to this new device.

"It's hard to ignore what 190mhz or so of StrongARM gets you", said Tom Cole, one of the beta testers.

NS Basic/CE brings BASIC, the most widely used programming language in the world, to Windows CE HPC and HPC/Pro devices. All development is done directly on the unit itself. NS Basic/CE provides visual objects (such as boxes and buttons), serial and WINSOCK communications, financial functions, file I/O and more. It supports ActiveX objects as well as the ADO database for Windows CE, also used by Pocket Access.

The product includes a powerful development and debugging envronment, allowing programmers to test and modify variables and code interactively. It is designed to take full advantage of the capabilities of Windows CE and the handheld computer environment.

NS Basic/CE 1.10 runs on all current devices using Windows CE for Handheld PC and Handheld PC Pro Edition software. The price is $99.95 USD, and includes a 191 page pocket sized Handbook. The Jornada version is free to all registered users.

"What we're especially proud of is that NS Basic/CE applications run on different devices without change", said George Henne, President of NS Basic, "An application written on a Jornada can be moved directly to other Windows CE HPC or HPC/Pro devices without any recompilation."
